"ZINC TRANSPORTER ZIP13 AND INTRACELLULAR CALCIUM REGULATION"

As a trace element, zinc is essential for the maintenance of normal cellular structure and functions. In recent years, we have demonstrated that zinc and zinc transporters contribute to the genesis of myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury and cardioprotection. The zinc transporters ZIP2, ZIP13, and ZIP7 play a role in ischemia/reperfusion injury either as an inducer or a protectant of ischemia/reperfusion injury. Today I will report their roles in ischemia/reperfusion injury and the underlying mechanisms.
