Title: "Zinc as a cardiotonic mediator".
Impaired baroreflex-dependent cardiac contraction (positive inotropy) through sympathetic nerve activation is a major cause for bad prognosis of heart failure. We found that a local Zn2+ influx through transient receptor potential canonical (TRPC) 6 channel potentiates (3 -adrenoceptor ((3AR) -stimulated cardiac positive inotropy in mice. TRPC6-mediated Zn2+ influx boosts a1 adrenergic receptor (AR)-stimulated (3AR/G5 -dependent signaling in rat cardiomyocytes by inhibiting (3 -arrestin-mediated (3AR internalization. I will introduce that TRPC6-mediated Zn2+ influx with a1AR stimulation enhances baroreflex-induced positive inotropy which may be a new therapeutic strategy for chronic heart failure.
